the food? hmm. the side dishes were ok. except for the kimchi and a spicy anchovies dish, others tasted a little bland. seaweed stuff was minimal, nearly non-existance. all these side dishes are refillable. then came a piping hot steam egg. it looks like cawan mushi but it taste better. er. i am not a great fan of cawan mushi or any other steam eggs that were steam to smooth perfection. weird, eh? i love those little pork-marked steam eggs with loads of pork at the bottom. mom's style's the best! :) fyi, to get smoother less pork-marked steam eggs, use lowest gas mark so it wont boil excessively creating bubble causing the marks. the egg pancake with vege was so so. leng was a tad disappointed as she was expecting seafood egg pancake like those she had when she was in korea. ha ha. i find the corn+ham with mayo in the hotplate - tit pan, interesting. i always tot mayo served hot is a no no but it tasted hmm special. plan to do something similar soon.
like i said the bbq was nothing special. the marinade was normal. but i like the spicy noodles with the cuttlefish or is it octopus? ha ha perhaps i am being bias. i love sotong. whatever has sotong in it i'll love itl. then we had some spicy seafood noodles. hmm. the stock taste like the korean instant noodles that swen n me cant live without. the seafood added flavors to the soup. i ate 1/4 crab but was not it a crabbie mood. ha ha ha. u know la. first dinner with leng's mates, must give good impression, so my table manners were too emaculate to dig into crabs. ha ha ha. yea. for those who know. there were other reasons too :P anyway the osyters or "oo" in hokkien were the tiniest ones. i only had one and it's 1/2 the size of my pinky. the last 2 bowls of noodles were quite delicious. one was a spicy soup with tofu and another was kimchi noodle soup.
halfway thru the dinner, we have intensive cantonese lesson led by chee kin. the most usable phrase "hai mg hai". it was hilarious. everyone trying to use the phrase with different situations. all in all it was a enjoyable nite out with new friends.

korean nite out
yes! world cup fever is finally here. didn't manage to catch the opening ceremony as i was having dinner with leng and team mates at hmm... was it mont kiara or sri hartamas. anyway the korean restaurant is very near to souled out. food so so. service so so. company - some of them was funny. perhaps cos there some of us there couldnt take beef, so it was chicken n pork only. well dashed was my anticipation for some good bbq beef. i remembered we had great beef bbq which they rolled out onto the hot grill- that was my first time having korean food @ ampang. the bbq was great that time. others was er forgettable. cos none of us really know how to order. however, this time around, kel vin, leng's sa is familiar with korean n stuff and thank goodness for that food was ok and we didnt go overboard. (previously with my team, we ordered so much that we had so much left over.) i particularly like the soju. it tastes sweet and reminds me of tapai. well unlike what swee told me. she said it tastes like kerosene when she had some in korea. ha ha ha. perhaps it's a different type? anyway, the soju we had, was some mixture of soju with "pat nin chao"? too bad i had to drive later so i didnt drink as much as i wanted. you know me la. drink like a fish. ha ha ha.
